Women, Rhythm & Ritual: The Tambourine Path
A beginner tambourine drum workshop, welcoming all women!

Time & Location
Mar 26, 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Sarasota, 7208 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231, USA
About the event
A beginner tambourine drum workshop, welcoming all women, with Barbara Gail of The Tambourine Path.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: ❀ Part seminar, part experiential learning, part sacred space... Part reclamation of the drum in relation to feminine arts and energies... Part remembrance of our roots, the women drummers who came before us, as they now live through us... And part dedication to the memory, tradition and legacy of Layne Redmond.
❀ Synchronize your mind-body complex with rhythmic walking and breathing in an InnerVision Drum Journey (can also be done seated for those who prefer);
❀ Entrain through an embodied rhythm practice;
❀ Connect to our ancient feminine lineage, to the time of When the Drummers Were Women;
❀ Learn to play the OMazing tambourine drum!
❀ And co-create an invocation of the 4 elements playing our tambourines in a rhythmic procession ritual.
ABOUT THE TAMBOURINE: The tambourine is a jingled frame drum, and a magical, trance-inducing instrument, steeped in the feminine lineage of herstory.
Thousands of ancient artifacts depict Goddesses portrayed with a frame drum, also played by Priestesses and Everyday Women, in the temples and in the streets, in ceremonies and celebrations.
As community spiritual leaders, they harnessed the power of rhythm through drum, song and dance, as sound transmissions and to transmute energy.
Their skills were their offerings in service during festivals, rites of passage, healing rituals, for promoting meditative states of awareness, and for divination and rousing group consciousness.
